happy friday!

yeah, i'm back to my old habits of not blogging lol
don't have much to say right now, since this last week has been all about getting ready for hawaii and working crazily to get all the orders done that have come through up until today! yay!

right now i'm waiting on lee to finish his shower and we're out the door! going to my parents house for the night, driving to san francisco tomorrow and then we're off to maui! yay yay yay! do you know how hard it is to pack for an entire week? holy moly we have a ton of shit we're bringing with us. haha! but i'm totally stoked to be going. also pretty jazzed about being the most albino person there. yes! wearing tank tops and shorts this week has done nothing to help with that situation. so i'm doomed to get crazy burned then turn back to white...thats what happens. but i happen to like being pasty so it's cool lol

i wonder how alice will deal with us being gone. i'm going to miss that booger butt. i put out an entire bag of cat food and a trough of water. haha i hope she doesn't invite friends over for a party because then she'll starve towards the end of the week! here's a recent picture of her playing in my sewing machine again!

ummm what else? i've been adding TONS of stuff to my shop! i'm digging making the longer length pouches! i'm putting interfacing in them and it's making me think about adding interfacing to all of the pouches. it makes them look cuter lol but i like having lower prices on the small pouches and people seem to dig them, so maybe i'll keep it the way it is. you never realize the value of zipper pouches until you travel. i seriously used a million pouches to pack for this trip haha! one for jewelry, one for hair stuff, one for mini bottles of stuff, one for makeup, etc etc. they are totally handy. so here's a glimpse of some of the new stuff...because a post without pictures is no fun :)

how are you doing? thanks so much for welcoming me back with open arms :))) i've missed you all!

these days seem to be flying by...i think it's because i'm dreading going back to school...

so i told you we got an elliptical trainer right? it was missing a screw and we just got it in yesterday. grrrreat customer service, golds gym. make your customers wait 5 flippin days to use the machine they spent a bunch of money on. COOL. beyond frustrating. but i've been using it and it's great! i'd totally recomment it to anyone! lee has never done an elliptical before and he couldn't make it to the full 25 minutes yesterday lol! (we're starting out slow with him =P) he worked up an amazing sweat and can barely walk today! no pain, no gain right?! i wish i were more sore, but the elliptical is my THANG and i have quite a resistance built up i guess???

anyhoo, i have some shop news! out of nowhere i keep getting contacted for promotional things!
so this site has featured me on their blog sidebar. excellent promotion of my shop!

this amazingly fun site has featured my "halloween cuties" pouch pack in their blog post and i joined the site to list my shop on there for free!! so so cool. i totally dig all things rockabilly and punk rock. in another life i'm going to be a rockabilly chick. fo sho.

this fabric seller is promoting a couple of my items alongside her fabric selections to showcase how they can be used! i think thats sooo so cool and i'm totally honored she decided to do that :)

hexagons!! oh man, these are a lot of work....using paper as your guide, you HAND sew them into shape then hand sew them together. i know this is going to take me EONS to finish. but i think they're simpley adorable and i looooove the fabric. i used a moda "arcadia" jelly roll. love!

i'm feeling the love!

aw so many people have asked why i'm not blogging anymore and when am i going to blog again and others have even said "YOU NEED TO BLOG NOW" haha i can count on my bff's to crack the whip when i'm slacking! wow...it's freakin been 2 months since i blogged?? holy cow, SO much to catch up...i could be here for days...so i will spare you with the novel and do a little highlight? because i love me some lists! lets see....where did i leave off on...?

- i got into the LVN program!! i'm beyond stoked that my life is actually going somewhere! i mean, i would love love love to be able to sew all day and actually make it my full time job (which is totally HAS been) but if we ever plan on owning a house and maybe popping out some babies, it's just not in the cards. soooo i start sept 8th. SO soon! my freedom days are very numbered.

- we're going to hawaii in 18 days!! eep! it's the last family vacation we'll be able to take with my family for a while. AND it's first time lee has ever been on a plane!! we're beyond excited and i cannot wait!

- i made it to 1,000 sales!! woop woop! my goal was to hit 1,000 by the time i started my program! i made it there and i'm still selling away! it's truly been a blessing...seriously. i made a business in this shitty economy and it's allowed me to, not only further my addiction to fabric haha, but to also have a little play money that's allowed us to do little things and to go out to eat every now and then and not go crazy sitting at home worrying about money all the time! it's become my hawaii fund and i'm sooo happy to not have to worry about money while we're there!

- i've made my very first quilt!! and then some....lol i've finished 3 quilt tops so far and i have 2 more in the works! my very first quilt was one that i started quiiiiite a while ago and i recently finished it a couple weeks ago. BUT i'm terrified to actually finish it! like, quilting and binding it? yeah not so much. i'm going to have my mom help haha anyhoo, here's some pics of the finished thAng



i love love love it! it's pretty massive too. i'm excited at the thought of being able to use it soon!

THEN i had the BRIALLIANT idea one night while going through the immense amount of scraps i have from making pouches all these years. well, first, i wanted to put together little scrap packs to sell them. then that thought saddened me. then i thought it would be cool to just sew them all together randomly....and then i started making log cabin blocks out of them and then i started getting REAL excited about the outcome. it morphed into this entirely exciting project that i'm kinda sad is over lol and i wish i had blogged about it because each block was like a little treasure to me :) anyhoo, here is the finished product



each block is different and i tried not to use the same fabric more than once...it MAY have happened but whatev's, no one will know lol. it's my little memento quilt and i'm soooo proud of it! i embroidered my shop name in the middle and surrounded it with cupcake prints. i'm still unsure how i'm going to make the backing...maybe with mini logs? because since i've finished this, i've accumulated new scraps that didn't make it here. and the binding i want to be hot pink.

and i've started on some new things, but i can save those for the next blog post hehe

anyhoo, i think thats enough of an update for now! i'm reallllly try to keep up with this again. i miss you all! i'm off to catch up on the ridiculous amount of blogs i've not seen in 2 months...oy!

so what is everyones plans for this glorious weekend? i say glorious because currently the weather here is fantastic. in the 70s. overcast and lovely! i wish it would stay this way all year long, i'd be one happy duck.

today was a good day, besides the moment where i almost cut my finger off with the rotary cutter. yeesh that was a horrible moment. first time i've ever injured myself significantly with my sewing tools. apparently i lifted the blade halfway through cutting fabric and the blade didn't go back on the fabric, it caught the ruler and i went full force into my finger. notttt a good feeling. i'm sure if i had put the new blade on, like i was going to earlier today, i probably would have loped the whole thing off, seriously. but my blade is pretty dull right now, thank god! i gasped so loud that lee flew out of his chair to see what i did lol he played doctor while i felt like bella in twilight. the sight of my own blood makes me feel pretty woozy. i started to sweat and i could hear my heart in my ears. bad news. so i sat while he poured peroxide on it and bandaged me up. god damn it hurt so bad. it's still throbbing and i probably shouldn't be typing but whatevs.

i really want to see the hangover this weekend!!
tomorrow we are heading out to see my parents. yesterday was my mamma's birthday so we're gonna do some sort of party. also planning to do dinner with our favorite san jose couple and maybe a movie!

so since i'm staying away from sewing for the rest of today, i think i'm going to settle in with some angel. (target is selling 4 seasons on the super cheap right now!!)

I can't decide; I love the Turquoise Clematis Zipper pouch AND the Mirabelle Zipper Pouch! They both have such fun summery colors. :)

My summer plans: since I'm due with baby # 4 in the end of September, I'm going to try to take advantage of my friend's pool as much as possible and float around like a big whale. ;) I'll take the kids to our local children's museum, go to VBS, and mostly just try to stay cool.

in an effort to blog more...

i took pictures of my day JUST so i could blog about it lol
ok well these are a mix of yesterday and today

after that woe-is-me post from yesterday (which i want to delete because it's so damn wahh wahhhhh) i left the house. i went fabric shopping. then i went to longs. i never go to longs, but we needed milk so i walked in and scooped up the ad and leisurely walked through the store, picking up some treats for alice, scoped out the new makeup, noted all the sales prices of everything.

i NEVER take my time shopping. i do it as fast as i can, in and out, so i don't "waste" time that i could be sewing. see? i've been in a black hole.

i dyed my hair a bright red, and i think thats what pulled me out of my foul mood yesterday. nothing like having a fresh coat of color to perk you up, eh?

and apparently my bangs didn't want to be red, so they stayed kinda blondish. eh, i don't mind. i just love it to be red. always have.
i didn't touch my sewing machine yesterday. i didn't touch my sewing machine today. it has been wonderful!

today i was already feeling more chipper. i made plans with veronica to have lunch at this completely organic pizza place. it was such so fun! the plastic was made from corn, the bar was made from recycled glass. the toilet paper was recycled i guess...i didn't use the bathroom lol. the walls are insulated with blue jeans, the pizza was made with whole grain crust and all organic ingredients. and it tasted amazing too. i love that place.







then i hung out with the sis in law and helped her a little with the wedding planning. she's making me so nervous. so much left to be done and only a month until the wedding. eek! but i can always count on her to lift my spirits. we have lots of fun together, and i can't say enough how i'm so blessed to be marrying into such an amazing family.

i came home to find the princess chillin on my ironing board again. her favorite place ever!


she loves it lol
she's become soooo spoiled lately. she's come to expect wet food everyday and she bugs and meows and tries to climb up my thigh every time i'm in the kitchen until i give her some. crazy cat! she also tries to eat my bowl of cereal every morning. she really loves honey nut cheerios! she will try and use her paw to bring the bowl towards her and gives me a death stare if i move away. but she really has become ours. she never leaves for more than a couple hours and she's right back at the door, meowing to come back in. i think she loves us too and it's so nice to finally have a pet :)

annnnnyhoo, i think thats a long enough post for today. how is everyones week going? i can't believe it's the season finale of idol! eep!

i figured out what my problem is. i'm spending waaaay too much time worrying about the shop. i'm online constantly, searching out new fabrics, scoping the competition, seeing what i can make thats better and newer and greater! ugh it's making me crazy! i keep telling myself i need to take my life back...but where do i start? i tried not sewing at all yesterday, but still felt unnaturally connected to the computer just in case something sold and i had to relist it. i still bought fabric. hmph.

i need a vacation

i am still in pre-craft fair mode and i dont know how to stop. it's become like a job to me. i wake up mega early to get a start on my sewing. i take intermittent breaks to check email and whatnot, but i am in business mode ALL day. i don't ever turn on the tv, unless to watch american idol. and even then, i keep wishing for it to go faster so i can get back to sewing. we haven't been to the grocery store in well over a month and we're eating fast food and buying only gallons of milk as we need them. what the heck? what can i do to change this mode/hole i'm in?

maybe i'll spend some quality time with my TTV contraption today? but even still, i don't feel inspired to do that. i dropped out of the creative type because doing a scrap page every 2 weeks seems daunting. i can't put away my fabric stuff to pull out my scrapping stuff.

and right now the store isn't even doing all that great. all my efforts are for nothing and i have over 150 things listed, with a bag full of more to be listed. and i have about 20 new fabrics on their way to me from different countries. when does it end?

ok enough venting. i'm going to force myself to go to the gym, because thats been pushed to the wayside as well. blarg.

in dire need of a post

so, i'm out of my blah's but now i'm busy! i was making things like a mad woman for the craft show. the show came and went and then i got bambarded with custom orders and just regular orders. i'm sitting down to watch american idol as i write this, which i've become pretty obsessed with!

so, the show. it was a lot of fun! definitely a good experience!!


the bestie came to help me. she was my calculator lol and she was also my number one saleswoman! she flaunted her wristlet and up-talked all my product lol

and my good friend patti drove a couple hours to spend the weekend with me and help out as well! she helped me set the night before! it was so much fun having my girls there with me! they even persuaded me to sing karaoke BY MYSELF for the first time. it was HORRIBLE, but i guess it was fun =P

i did well. sold a good amount, met lots of people. got invited to be in a holiday craft show so thats exciting!

but now i have a crazy amount of leftover product that i'm going to add little by little to the shop! here's a little snippet of my update today

boring

thats how i feel lately. these past few weeks have just been filled with lots and lots of sewing. the craft fair is coming up in 3...THREE days, and i feel unprepared, despite all the crap i have made. meh, we'll see how it goes!

and i've been preoccupied with this little lady



she's seriously the cutest thing ever. she stays at our feet all night, doesn't make a peep. she loves to hang out in my sewing space. she loves anything on a string and plastic bags. lol she loves to paw at my face when i close my eyes and she loves to see what we're eating. i think i've become very attached to her :)

um i can't really think of much else thats going on with me...i've been helping the future sis in law with her wedding planning. and i picked up MY wedding dress yesterday! it's in my flickr if you feel inclined to see it. i feel perfect in it. :) ummm what else? i've been gathering things for my LVN application...the gym has fallen to the wayside, but i plan to pick it back up next week.

i feel so bleh....hopefully i'll have better things to talk about after the show. hopefully i'll sell a gajillion things and have good news when i blog again :)

on the verge of death...or so it feels like it

god, i caught something nasty. or maybe it was food poisoning...but i have to run to the toilet every 20-30 minutes after an intesne pain my stomach. it feels like someone is grinding up my intestines. why do we have so many nerves in there anyway?? ughhh it sucksssss. couldn't sleep...because a wave of pain would wake me up periodically. it sucks. i hope i don't die. hahaha hopefully when i'm better i'll blog. hope everyone is doing ok!!! i suck at blogging right now :(

easter, kitty, quilt

i've been asked a lot of question about how i did on the diet - i told you i lost 5 pounds in the first 3 days right? well then i started my period and the 5 pounds didn't budge. between the mix of disappointment, hunger and raging emotions, i went off the diet on day 5. lol yes, 5 pounds is terrific! but not when you're starving and you're promised 10-17 damn it!! lol soooo we haven't gone back on the diet yet. want to, but there just never seems to be a 7 day streak where temptation won't be looming. this weekend is my dads birthday party, so hello, how am i going to eat just banana's and milk the whole day while cake and ice cream is staring me in the face. hells no! no maybe next monday we'll start again. and i've gained back 3 of the lost 5 pounds and i'm sure i would gain more if i wasn't going to the gym every single day. lammmme.

so onto easter....it was a dud. i have all these fantastical ideas of what i want to do and the pictures i want to take, and my plans hardly ever pan out the way i want them to when we're waiting around the entire morning for people to get motivated. it's beyond frustrating when we're supposed to be somewhere at 1 and don't arrive until 2:40??? how does that happen? i'm an early person. i hate being late....so i dont get the mentality of being ok with being 2 hours late...hmm so no dying of eggs. nothing really easter-y happened. we went to my future sis in laws friends house where her dads band played andwe could karaoke. there was a bounce house that had basically a doggie door that my ass would not fit through even if i tried. the food was great, it was fun, but not very easter-y. i kinda wish i had gone home to be with my family so i could have seen little chris (my newest little cousin) enjoy his first easter!

sooooo the kitty! she's been hanging out here a lot. i think she's decided to adopt us! she cries and cries if i dont come out and show her some love. she was constantly trying to sneak into our place so i finally shut the door to the room and let her inside to roam around a little bit. she loved it! she hopped up on lee and took a little nap. he kept giving me the stink eye but i know he loved it! he would have pushed her off if he didn't. he pretends to be cold hearted and allergic to cats, but i know the truth!!!

so since i was feeling bad about not knowing if she was eating, i merely went to the dollar tree to scoop up some food, a cute little bowl and a toy. $3 is nothing rght?? lee couldn't object lol so now she's become a little dependant monster. she meows at our door at 7:45am to feed her. lol but i totally love it so i can't complain! and i'm wondering how she will react if i try to give her a bath...hmmm...and how much is the advantage flea stuff? anyone know?

so last night i got the urge to want to quilt. it started with my mom wanting me to look up fabric jelly rolls so she can make table runners for the wedding. i'd never paid any mind to jelly rolls before, but once i got to looking at them, i fell in love! this is one i decided on for the table runners


everything i need! pinks, greens and bits of orange. i've loved this line anyway because it's basic grey, the scrapbook paper company. love love!

so then i was talking to some twitter bff's who quilt, and who are amazing at it, and they basically pushed me over the edge to try it out. i really dig the chinese coin stack method, so i made 3 blocks!


and then i was unsure if i wanted to actually put them together, with the different sashing colors, but i was reassured that it would look good because it's all pretty bright colors! yay! and i doubt i'll actually quilt it...i'll probably just make a blanket. but it's still fun to say i'm quilting lol

ummmm so that it! thinking about skipping the gym today...i'm SORE! i wish it wasn't so insanely hard to get your body into shape. it's exhausting work

what are your plans for easter?? all i want to do is dye eggs. as long as i take pictures of that, i'll be a happy camper! i'm making lee do all these traditional things like decorate sugar cookies at christmas-time, dress up at st patty's day, decorate eggs at easter lol i know he secretly loves that i get so excited about this kinda stuff, but he grumbles about it in the beginning :) gotta get in the practice for when we have kids ya know!!

so i hope to get some fun pictures this weekend. i'm off to the gym and then the scrap store because they informed me that adrienne loomans prima line has hit!!! woot!

sooooo my brother is home safely from iraq. it was awesome to see him. the stories he had were great! some were scary, and those were the ones he told us about when we weren't around my parents lol.

had 2 inquiries from brides-to-be about possible bridemaids gifts this weekend. i hope the orders follow through because i totally love doing bridesmaids gifts! something about being a part of one persons special day is so exciting! and i just love doing custom orders in general. the positive feedback i get is so overwhelmingly awesome. i wish i could make a living out of doing this....forever... *sigh*

well peeps, what are your plans for the week? tomorrow i have to drag lee to the dental surgeon to get his damn wisdom tooth out. he's SUCH a typical guy in that "if it's not broke, don't fix it" he waits until the last possible second to do anything medical related. this tooth is pretty much rotting out of his face and he waits until he's in excrutiating pain to do something about it. i could just smack him! so now we're scrambling to try and find somewhere for him to go. dang boys!!!
